Account Settings and Credentials

Manage your account credentials and settings.

Updated this week

Your Emporia account gives you control over how you access and interact with your energy data. This article explains how to access account settings, change your email or password, and delete your account if needed.

Accessing account settings

Access your account settings directly from the Emporia Energy app.

Steps:

  • Open the Emporia Energy app.

  • Tap the Menu icon (☰) in the upper-left corner.

  • Select Account.

For additional account customization options such as color scheme, currency symbol, and ad visibility, see the App Appearance and Preferences article in the Navigation & Settings collection.

Changing your email address

Emporia does not currently offer a direct method to change the email address on an existing account. Instead, you can transition to a new email using the Device Sharing feature.

Email change process

Step 1: Create a new Emporia account

  • If currently logged in, tap Menu (☰) → Account → Sign Out.

  • From the login screen, tap Sign Up.

  • Create a new account using your desired email address.

  • Complete the email verification process.

Step 2: Share devices with your new account

  • Sign back in to your original account (the one that currently has your devices).

  • Tap Menu (☰) → Manage Devices → Shared With.

  • Tap Add New User or the + icon.

  • Enter your new account’s email address.

  • Select all devices you want to transfer and tap Share.

Step 3: Verify and switch

  • Sign out and sign in to your new account.

  • Verify that all devices appear and are accessible.

  • Once confirmed, you can delete the original account if you no longer need it.

Important: Device settings and historical data for shared devices remain available when you access them from the new account. For more details on sharing behavior, see the Device Settings and Management article in the Navigation & Settings collection.

Changing your password

The process to change your password depends on how your account was created.

For email and password accounts

Use this flow if you sign in directly with an email and a password.

Steps:

  • If logged in, tap Menu (☰) → Account → Sign Out.

  • From the login screen, tap Sign In → Sign In with Email.

  • Tap Forgot Password?.

  • Enter your email address and tap Send Reset Code.

  • Check your email for the reset code.

  • Enter the code, create a new password, and tap Reset Password.

  • Sign in with your new password.

For Google or Apple ID accounts

For accounts created with Google or Apple, password management is handled by those providers rather than the Emporia app.

For Google accounts:

  • Visit myaccount.google.com.

  • Navigate to Security → Password.

  • Follow Google’s prompts to change your password.

For Apple ID accounts:

  • Visit appleid.apple.com or use Settings on your Apple device.

  • Select Sign-In & Security → Change Password (wording may vary slightly by iOS version).

  • Follow Apple’s prompts to update your password.

Important: Emporia never receives or stores passwords for third‑party sign‑in providers; all password resets and security changes must be completed in your Google or Apple account settings.

Deleting your account

Permanently deleting your Emporia account removes your account data from Emporia’s systems and cannot be undone.

Before you delete

Important warnings:

  • Deleting your account does not fix device issues; contact Customer Support for technical problems instead.

  • If you plan to keep using your devices, share them with another account first so you do not lose access.

  • All historical energy data associated with the deleted account will be permanently removed.

Account deletion process

Steps:

  • Open the Emporia Energy app.

  • Tap Menu (☰) → Account.

  • Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.

  • Read the warning message carefully.

  • Confirm your decision to proceed with deletion.

You will be signed out and returned to the login screen; if you need Emporia services again in the future, you can always create a new account.

Need help instead?

If you are considering deletion because of technical issues, reach out to Emporia’s Customer Support team first—many issues can be resolved without deleting your account.
