The Emporia Energy app offers several customization options to help you personalize your experience. These settings allow you to adjust the app's appearance, choose your preferred language, and set your currency display to match your regional preferences.
Access these settings by tapping the menu icon (☰) in the app and selecting Account.
Dark Mode
Dark Mode provides a visually comfortable alternative to the default light theme, offering a modern, sleek appearance that's especially useful in low-light environments.
What is Dark Mode?
Dark Mode changes the app's visual appearance by replacing bright backgrounds with darker tones. This creates a more relaxed viewing experience and can help reduce eye strain when using the app at night or in dimly lit spaces.
Three Color Scheme Options:
System - Syncs with your device's system settings and automatically adjusts between light and dark themes based on your phone or tablet preferences
Light (default) - Bright backgrounds with white and light gray tones; optimal for daytime use and well-lit environments
Dark - Black and dark gray tones throughout the app with subdued colors for a relaxed viewing experience and reduced brightness
Enabling Dark Mode:
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the app
Select Account Options
Tap Color Scheme
Select your preference: System, Light, or Dark
Changes apply instantly

Currency Symbol Display
The Currency Symbol setting allows you to change the displayed currency label shown throughout the app to match your region's currency.
What This Setting Changes:
Display Only - This is a cosmetic preference that affects how currency symbols appear in the app
No Calculation Changes - Does not affect how rates are calculated or how costs are computed
Visual Consistency - Ensures the currency symbol matches your actual billing currency
Changing Currency Symbol:
Tap the menu icon (☰) in the app
Select Account Options
Tap Currency Symbol
Select from available currency options
Changes apply immediately throughout the app
How It Works with Manual Rate Entry:
When you enter a manual utility rate, you enter the numerical value in cents per kWh. The app then multiplies this rate by your energy usage (kWh) to calculate costs.
Important Note: The app performs simple multiplication without automatic currency conversion. For example, in the case of euros (€), "1 cent per kWh" would correspond to 0.01 euros per kWh.
Available Currency Symbols:
The Emporia app supports various international currency symbols, including:
$ (Dollar - USD, CAD, AUD, etc.)
€ (Euro)
£ (Pound Sterling)
¥ (Yen/Yuan)
₹ (Rupee)
And other commonly used currency symbols
Select the symbol that matches your region and utility billing.
