Getting started with your Emporia account lets you securely access and manage your energy monitoring devices and data from anywhere. This article explains available platforms, how to create an account, and how to troubleshoot verification code issues.
Available platforms
An Emporia account gives you secure access to your energy monitoring devices and data from anywhere in the world. Emporia Energy provides multiple ways to access your account and manage your energy data.
Mobile apps
Download the Emporia Energy app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for full access to all features and device onboarding.
Use the app to add new devices, configure settings, and monitor live energy usage.
Ensure Bluetooth and location services are enabled on your phone during device setup.
Mobile apps are required to onboard new devices because the setup process uses Bluetooth.
Web application
Access your account through any supported desktop browser at web.emporiaenergy.com to view energy data, control devices, and manage account settings.
Sign in with the same credentials used in the mobile app.
The web app cannot be used to onboard new devices—Bluetooth-based onboarding must be completed in the mobile app.
Creating your account
Choose from three convenient sign-up methods to create your Emporia account. You can sign up with an email and password or use an existing Google or Apple ID for faster access.
Option A: Sign up with email and password
Create an Emporia account directly using your email address and a custom password. After sign-up, a 6-digit verification email is required to complete account creation.
Steps:
Download the Emporia Energy app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Open the app and tap Sign Up.
Select Sign Up with Email.
Enter your email address and create a password.
Agree to the Terms of Service.
Tap Create Account to trigger a 6-digit verification email.
Check your email for the 6-digit verification code and enter it in the app to complete setup.
If you encounter issues receiving your verification code, see the Verification code troubleshooting section below. You can opt out of promotional Emporia marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link included at the bottom of those messages.
Option B: Sign up with Google or Apple ID
Use your existing Google or Apple credentials for faster account creation and simplified sign-in. This option streamlines access while still protecting your account with your provider’s security.
Steps:
Download the Emporia Energy app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Open the app and tap Sign Up.
Select Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple.
Follow the prompts to authorize Emporia Energy access and agree to the Terms of Service.
Important notes:
Password resets for accounts created with Google or Apple are handled through those providers, not through the Emporia app.
If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, ensure you can access the private relay inbox or have forwarding enabled so you receive important messages like verification emails or CSV exports.
Use the same login method each time you sign in to avoid account access issues.
Google and Apple sign-in options are only available in the mobile app, not in web browsers.
Verification code troubleshooting
If you do not receive your 6-digit verification code when signing up with your email, several checks can help resolve the issue. These steps focus on spam filtering, resend attempts, email accuracy, and provider settings.
Check spam or junk folders
Look in your spam, junk, or promotions folders for the Emporia verification email.
Mark the message as “Not Spam” to improve future delivery.
Resend the verification code
If the email does not appear after a short delay, return to the verification screen in the app and tap Resend Code.
Wait 2–3 minutes for the new code to arrive, then check both your inbox and spam folders.
Verify your email address
A mistyped email address is a common cause of missing verification emails.
Confirm that the email entered during sign-up exactly matches the address you are checking, watching for missing letters, numbers, or domains.
If you suspect an error, go back to the sign-up screen and start over with the correct address.
Apple ID Private Relay users
When you sign up with an Apple ID and choose Hide My Email, Apple generates a private relay address that forwards to your real inbox.
Ensure you can access the relay inbox, and that email forwarding is enabled in your Apple ID settings so verification emails arrive properly.
Email provider settings
Add Emporia’s sender address (for example, [email protected]) to your email account’s allowlist or trusted senders.
Check that your email security settings allow automated verification emails to be delivered and are not blocking Emporia messages.
Wait and try again
Occasionally, email delivery can be delayed in transit, so wait 5–10 minutes and refresh your inbox before requesting another code.
Avoid requesting multiple codes in rapid succession, as this can confuse which code is valid.
