The Emporia Energy app is designed to help you monitor, control, and optimize your home's energy use with ease. Navigate seamlessly between real-time insights, device controls, and energy trends—all within an intuitive interface built to simplify your smart home energy management.
Home Screen
Your default view when opening the app provides quick access to energy costs, device controls, and savings.
Energy Summary - View costs or usage for Today, Last 7d, and Last 30d with trend arrows (requires Vue energy monitor)
Charging Summary - View EV charging activity with energy used, cost, and session counts (requires EV charger)
Device Cards - Quick access with at-a-glance status and controls:
Charger Cards - Current status (On, Ready, Charging, Offline) with control buttons
Vue Cards - Today's usage and top circuits
Smart Plug Grid - Toggle controls with drag-to-reorder functionality
Savings Widget - Shows realized or potential savings for charger owners on time-of-use rates
Notifications - Access past 30 days of alerts, including EV Charging Reports, Oven Left On alerts, and Custom Notifications

Devices Screen
Access your complete device list by tapping Devices in the bottom navigation.
Device Interaction:
Device Icon - Tap for quick access to controllable device settings
Device Name - Fully customizable for easy identification
Usage Display - Shows power usage in kilowatts (kW)
Tap any device to view detailed energy data. For Vue monitors, see individual circuit measurements. Control devices directly from this screen—toggle on/off, adjust settings, or access advanced controls.
Note: Devices display in setup order (not currently adjustable).
Usage Screen
Visualize energy usage over time to analyze trends and optimize consumption.
Key Features:
Blue values = energy consumption
Green values = energy generation (solar)
Customizing Your View - Tap the three lines (upper-right) to:
Choose measurement units (kW, kWh, cost, etc.)
Select a specific circuit or device under "Graphed Circuit."
Time Resolution Options:
Live - Real-time, second-by-second measurements
Minute - Minute-by-minute recent activity
Hourly - Usage patterns throughout the day
Daily - Daily totals and comparisons
Weekly - Day-to-day patterns
Monthly - Overall consumption trends
Yearly - Long-term patterns and seasonal variations
Tap any bar for detailed information. Use arrows to navigate and compare historical data.
Discover Screen
The Discover section helps you maximize energy savings and optimize device performance through intelligent automation and energy management features. Tap the Discover icon at the bottom of the app to explore available programs and tools.
Available Features:
Enroll in a Utility Program - Participate in demand response energy management programs with your smart devices to earn cash or credits on your bill
PowerSmart - Auto-optimize your EV charging speed based on your home's real-time energy usage
Device Schedules - Sync devices to your utility's time-of-use rates for instant savings, or build a personalized schedule to cut energy costs
Excess Solar Management - Set your smart devices to automatically consume your excess solar energy
Intelligent Load Sharing - Ensure that multiple electric vehicles charge efficiently without overloading your home's electrical system
Peak Demand Management - Set your Peak Demand goal and prioritize your smart devices to automatically respond to meet your goal
