There's two available options to provide utility rates/costs into the app:
- First is a manual/fixed rate (set as a single "cost" value)
- Second would be based on imported Rate Plan information provided by NREL.
NOTE: We're going to add customized utility rate plan data in the future for dynamic calculations - based on time, tier, peak demand and more in the future.
Here's how to get to the Utility Rate setting within the app:
- Select Menu (☰) in top left corner
- Select Household Info under Settings
- Select Set Utility Rate
- Select the device you want to make changes to
Manual/Fixed Rate Setting:
Important for this fixed rate, that the field is in Cents per kWh, not Dollars. The app will multiply this set value against the measured usage (in kWh) to calculate the appropriate cost. Other currency values can work as well (since it is just multiplying the value, not calculating for exchange rates at all) - you'll just submit your *currency value* per kWh as charged by your utility provider.
Rate Setting based on utility provider data:
As of this moment this particular app feature is only available for US residents. We import utility rate plan data from NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) to provide that information in the app. If any of the rate plan details are incorrect or are missing - we need to reach out to NREL to have the information updated. Contact Customer Support if needing assistance.
This feature will be able to calculate correct costs based on delivery charges, time of use/time of day pricing, tiered rates and more.
