Introducing Combined Vues

See Your Entire Home's Energy in One Unified View

Updated this week

New in the Emporia App as of December 10, 2025

We've added a powerful new feature to the Emporia app. This update lets you connect two or more Vue energy monitors and see your entire home's energy in one unified experience. Perfect for 400A services (200A max per panel), multiple panels, or homes with 17+ circuits, this feature provides accurate whole-home energy monitoring, unified circuit lists, and precise net metering calculations.

Who Is Combined Vues For?

  • Large Panel Owners - Monitor 17+ circuits in a single panel

  • 200A Panels in Parallel - Whole-home view across multiple panels

  • Small Commercial Properties - Track energy across multiple panels

  • Multi-Family Properties - Building-wide energy data from separate units

Not Sure If You Need Combined Vues?

  • Combined Vues is for parallel panels or independent circuits

  • If you have a main panel with a sub-panel, use Vue Nesting instead

  • Using the wrong feature causes double-counting

How It Works

Combined Vues displays aggregated totals showing combined watts, kWh, cost, and net usage across all linked devices. All your circuits from all your Vues appear in one unified, sorted circuit list. You can view real-time and historical data, looking back at usage history just like a single Vue, and cost calculations work seamlessly with your utility rate schedules for complete time-of-use support.

More Flexibility For Energy Management

  • Excess Solar - Accurate solar optimization using your true, whole-home net usage

  • Peak Demand Management - Whole-home demand calculations for better load management

  • PowerSmart - PowerSmart will continue to use the mains readings from the 200A sensors configured in your breaker settings for load management. This behavior is unchanged when using Combined Vues, so you can safely enable Combined Vues without affecting how PowerSmart calculates available panel capacity.

Requirements

Device Requirements

  • Two or more Vue energy monitors on your account

  • Any nested Vues have been unnested first

    Steps for Unnesting:

    1. Tap the Menu (☰) in the app

    2. Tap Manage Devices

    3. Tap the name of the nested device

    4. Tap Device Info

    5. Tap the Nest Under field

    6. Scroll to the top and select Stand Alone

    7. Tap Save

Account Requirements

  • Emporia app updated to the latest version (4.5)

Step-by-Step Setup

The Vue you start the combination from becomes your Primary. The Primary Vue keeps its settings (location, utility rate, notifications). All other Vues you combine will lose their individual settings.

  1. Tap the Menu (☰) within the app

  2. Select Manage Devices from the menu

  3. Choose your primary Vue device from the list

  4. Tap Combine with Another Vue

  5. Select the Vue(s) you would like to combine

  6. Tap Combine

To Share Your Combined Vue

To ensure others can see your Combined Vue, you must share all Vues that are part of the combination, not just the primary Vue.

  1. Tap the Menu (☰) within the app

  2. Navigate to Manage Devices

  3. Select Shared With

  4. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite

  5. Choose all the Vue devices that are part of your Combined Vue setup

  6. Tap Share at the bottom of the app

To Uncombine

  1. Tap the Menu (☰) within the app

  2. Select Manage Devices from the menu

  3. Choose your Primary Vue device from the list

  4. Tap Uncombine All

Troubleshooting

"Vue not available for combining"

  • Check if the Vue is nested (unnest it first)

  • Verify the Vue isn't already part of another combination

"Combined Vue not showing usage"

  • Verify each Vue's connection status

  • When combining a new Vue with an older one, history starts from the new device's install date.
