Vue LED Behavior (Gen 3)

What each Wi-Fi (green) and wired Ethernet (blue) LED pattern means on the Vue Gen 3, and what to do if the LED isn't solid.

Updated today

The LED on the front of your Vue: Gen 3 is a quick at-a-glance indicator of the device's connection state. This article covers what each color and blink pattern means and what to do if you see something unexpected.

Wi-Fi LED Patterns

When the Vue is using Wi-Fi for its network connection, the LED is green:

Light Status

Condition

1 green blink every 3 seconds

Not connected to router

2 green blinks every 3 seconds

Connected to router. Attempting internet connection

Solid green

Connected to internet

  • 1 green blink every 3 seconds — Not connected to your router. The Vue is searching for or unable to authenticate with your Wi-Fi network.

  • 2 green blinks every 3 seconds — Connected to your router, attempting to reach the internet. This is a transient state as the Vue authenticates with the Emporia cloud.

  • Solid green — Connected to the internet and reporting to the Emporia cloud. This is the healthy state.

Wired Ethernet LED Patterns

When the Vue is using a wired Ethernet connection, the LED is blue:

Light Status

Condition

Off

Not connected to router

2 blue blinks every 3 seconds

Connected to router. Attempting internet connection.

Solid blue

Connected to internet

  • Off — Not connected to your router. Check that the Ethernet cable is plugged in at both ends and that the cable is good.

  • 2 blue blinks every 3 seconds — Connected to your router, attempting to reach the internet.

  • Solid blue — Connected to the internet via Ethernet. This is the healthy state for a wired setup.

What to Do If the LED Isn't Solid

  • Slow green blink (not connecting to Wi-Fi) — the Vue can't reach your router. See Vue Not Connecting: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Troubleshooting for the full diagnostic flow.

  • Stuck on 2 blinks (router OK, internet not) — your router is up but the Vue can't reach the Emporia cloud. Check that your router has internet access from another device, then reboot the router.

  • LED is off entirely on a wired setup — verify the Ethernet cable is good and seated at both ends. Try a different cable to rule out a wiring issue.

  • No light at all (Wi-Fi mode) — the Vue isn't getting power. Check the wire harness in the panel and confirm the breaker the harness is on hasn't tripped.
