Emporia Vue 3 comes with standard 200A current transformers (CTs) that clamp around your mains. However, certain setups—such as extra-thick or rigid main wires, or non-accessible installation points—require the use of flexible 200A sensors.
Why Choose Flexible 200A Sensors?
Compatibility with Thick or Immovable Wires: Flexible CT sensors are ideal when standard clamp-on CTs cannot fit due to the size or rigidity of the wires. They can be installed around large utility feeds that are otherwise inaccessible.
Ease of Installation Around Bus Bars: Flexible sensors easily open for placement around electric bus bars without requiring disconnection.
When to Use Flexible CT Sensors
Flexible CT sensors are recommended in the following situations:
Thick Wires: Standard CTs are unsuitable for panels with large or non-movable wires.
Inaccessible Clamp Points: Panels that lack accessible locations for standard clamp-on CTs, such as closed or non-standard configurations.
In such cases, flexible sensors can be installed directly around the main conductors or bus bars. For example, if your panel does not have space for the standard sensors, use flexible sensors around the two primary bus bars to measure current on the mains.
General Installation Guidelines for Flexible CT Sensors
To properly install flexible CTs:
Identify the two main conductors or bus bars in your electrical panel (Phase L1 and Phase L2).
Open each flexible CT sensor and place it around the conductor(s) for the corresponding phase. - Ensure the sensor encloses both wires or bars of the same phase, depending on the panel setup.
Connect the sensors to the Vue 3’s main CT ports.
