Vue 3: Adjusting CT Wire Length
The Vue 3 features upgraded connection points that provide greater installation flexibility, allowing you to both extend and shorten CT wires as needed.

Specifications
Wire gauge: CT sensors use 22AWG wire
Recommended extension wire: 22AWG with 600V rating
Maximum extension length: 30 feet for optimal accuracy
Conduit/shielding: Not required, even when placed near live wires
Critical Wiring Guidelines
The most important aspect is ensuring correct wire polarity when terminating to the Vue 3 device:
Black (positive) wire β Solid/filled-in circle marking
White (negative) wire β Empty circle marking
Steps for extending the CT wire:
Remove (un-terminate) the wires from the green terminal block on each wire
Connect your extension wires to the sensor wires using wire nuts
Re-terminate the extension wire to the green terminal block, ensuring the positive (black) wire from the sensor matches the black (solid) label marked above the terminal port on the Vue 3 device
Ensure all wire connections are tightly secured to prevent connectivity issues or safety concerns
Plug the sensor terminal block into the Vue 3 terminal port

Steps for shortening the CT wire:
Remove (un-terminate) the wires from the green terminal block on each wire
Clip the sensor wire to your desired length
Strip insulation off wire tips (less than 1")
Twist the stranded copper wire together to ensure proper connectivity
Re-terminate sensor wire into the green terminal block, ensuring the positive (black) wire from the sensor matches the black (solid) label marked above the terminal port on the Vue 3 device
Double-check that all connections are secure to avoid operational disruptions or safety risks
Plug the sensor terminal block into the Vue 3 terminal port

Vue 2: Extending CT's/Sensors
The CTs plugged into the Vue 2 device use standard audio cables that can be extended using regular audio extension cables (mono or stereo, both work fine):
200A CTs: Use 3.5mm extensions
50A CT's: Use 2.5mm extensions
Important limitation: We generally recommend keeping sensor extensions under 20 feet, as signal strength can degrade over longer distances and cause measurement inaccuracy. If you need to monitor circuits more than 20 feet away, this typically requires a separate Gen 2 device at that location to accurately capture circuit usage.
