Enhanced Graphing Features

This release brings significant enhancements to how your energy measurements are displayed, offering a more intuitive graphing experience.

Updated over 2 months ago

What's New in Version 3.5

The latest update includes several key improvements:

  1. Enhanced Resolution Behavior: We've updated how time frames are displayed within graphs to align more closely with standard graphing practices.

  2. Interactive Graphs: Tap or click on any point in the graph to view the exact measurement value at that specific time.

  3. Distinct Consumption and Generation Values: Consumption is displayed as positive values above the y-axis, while generation is shown as negative values below the y-axis.

  4. Improved Time Frame Indicators: A new sub-header displays precise details about the time frame currently in view.

  5. Streamlined Header Information: The "total" usage value has been removed from the header to declutter the interface.

Enhanced Resolution Behavior

We've revamped how time frames are displayed within the graphs to make them more intuitive and informative. Previously, selecting a resolution like "Min" would show the most recent measurements in minutes. Now, when you select "Min," the graph displays the most recent minute of usage, composed of individual second-by-second values.

Here's how each resolution works now:

  • Live: Displays real-time, second-by-second updates.

  • Min: Shows the latest minute with individual second values.

  • Hour: Displays 60 minutes of the selected hour.

  • Day: Shows 24 hours of the current day.

  • Week: Displays each day's total usage for the current week.

  • Month: Shows daily totals for the current month.

  • Year: Displays monthly totals for the current year.

Example:

If you're on the "Day" resolution for today, the graph now shows the current day broken down by each hour, starting at midnight. Previously, it would display all previous days in a bar graph. This change allows you to focus on detailed usage within the specific day.

You can still swipe left or right on the graph to navigate through different time frames. We believe this new approach provides a clearer understanding of your energy usage patterns.

Interactive Graphs

To provide more precise information, you can now tap or click on any point in the graph to see the exact amount of energy usage or generation at that specific time. This feature allows you to quickly identify peaks, valleys, or other points of interest in your energy data.

Distinct Consumption and Generation Values

In previous versions, both consumption and generation values were displayed as absolute values above the y-axis. With this update, we now represent them differently:

  • Consumption: Displayed as positive values above the y-axis.

  • Generation: Displayed as negative values below the y-axis.

This change provides a more accurate visual representation of your energy flow and matches the way calculations are handled elsewhere in the app. Generation values continue to be represented with green colors, but their position below the y-axis helps differentiate them from consumption values.

Improved Time Frame Indicators

We've added a new sub-header above the graph that displays detailed information about the current time frame. This includes exact dates and times, helping you understand precisely what period your data represents.

For example:

  • When viewing Live data, the exact time is displayed in the upper right corner below the blue header bar.

  • In Min resolution, the precise minute of usage is shown, with each second's value populating the graph.

This enhancement provides more context for your energy data, making it easier to analyze specific periods.

Streamlined Header Information

To declutter the interface and focus on the detailed graph data, we've removed the "total" usage value from the header. This allows for a cleaner look and emphasizes the granular data available in the graphs.

We Value Your Feedback

This update represents one of the most significant changes to our graphing functionality in a long time. We are committed to providing the most user-friendly energy management experience possible, and your feedback is invaluable in helping us achieve that goal.
