The Emporia smart home energy management platform offers various settings and functionalities that are consistent across all connected devices, such as EV Chargers, energy monitors, and smart plugs. Below is a detailed overview of these shared settings and how to manage them effectively within the Emporia app.
Shared Settings
*device* Info (i.e. EV Charger info if an EV Charger device) - When selecting a device, the "Device Info" option navigates you to the Info page. The details available on this page depend on the device type. Shared Info settings are discussed further below.
Shared With - This feature allows you to share device access with others.
Reset WiFi (Vue 1, 2 and Vue 3 monitors will have Reset WiFi / Solar Setup) - This function lets you reconnect the device to a WiFi network. Use this if the device is offline or you need to update the WiFi network settings. For Vue monitors, specific behaviors related to WiFi resets and device calibration can be found here.
Clear Data - Deletes all measurement data saved for the device. Note: Clearing data does not resolve device-related issues. It only removes the historical data from the Emporia database.
Remove from Account - Permanently removes the device from your Emporia account and database. Important: Removing a device does not address device issues; it only deletes its associated records from the Emporia cloud.
Info Page: Shared Details
The Info page provides details specific to each device type, with certain shared settings applicable to all devices:
Name (Device Name) - Allows you to customize the device name displayed in the app. Recommended for easy identification. If no name is set, the last six digits of the device serial number are used. To rename, update this field and tap Save located at the bottom of the Info Page.
Nest Under - Organize devices hierarchically for better management. Further details are available here.
Serial - Displays the device’s serial number. Typically not required for standard operations, but the last six digits are useful for certain functionalities (e.g., Bluetooth connections).
Firmware Version - Shows the firmware version installed on the device. Emporia devices automatically check for and update their firmware daily. If updates are not being applied despite the device being connected to the cloud, contact our Customer Support team for assistance.
