CSV Exports

Learn how to export energy data as CSV files from the Emporia app, customize timeframes, and analyze data effortlessly.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Emporia Energy provides the ability to export data measured by all Emporia devices in CSV format, allowing you to analyze your energy data outside the app. These on-demand CSV exports are fully customizable based on the desired timeframe.

Once requested, an email with a download link will be sent to the address associated with your Emporia account. The download contains a compressed .zip folder, which includes multiple files with data available in different time resolutions (e.g., seconds, minutes, hours).

How to Request a CSV Export

  1. Open the App Menu

    • Tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-left corner of the app.

  2. Navigate to Export Options

    • Select Export Raw Data to CSV under the Settings section.

  3. Customize Your Export

    • Choose the device for which you want to export data.

    • Specify the desired date range.

    • Tap Export Data to confirm your request.

  4. Download the Export

    • Check your email inbox for a download link.

    • Use the link to download a .zip file containing your exported data.

Files Included in the Export

Each .zip file includes multiple CSV files, each corresponding to a specific time resolution for the selected timeframe:

  • 1SEC: Contains up to 3 hours of data at 1-second intervals.

  • 1MIN: Contains up to 7 days of data at 1-minute intervals.

  • 15MIN: Contains complete 15-minute interval data.

  • 1H: Contains complete hourly data.

  • 1DAY: Contains complete daily data.

What does an Export File look like?

CSV exports include detailed energy data. Here’s a breakdown of the file contents:

  • Seconds, minutes, and 15-minute interval files provide power data in kilowatts (kW).

  • Hourly and daily resolution files provide energy data in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

Understanding Export File Columns

For Vue 3 and Vue Gen 1/2 devices, columns labeled with suffixes like _A, _B, and _C indicate data from the device's "mains" sensors. These correspond to the three 200A CT sensor ports (A, B, C).
