EV Charger starts charging right away when schedule should prevent charging
Updated over a week ago

If your Emporia Level 2 EVSE EV Charger starts charging immediately, even though you have set a schedule to start charging later, this guide will help you resolve the issue. There are two common reasons for this behavior:

  1. Incorrect Time Zone Setting

  2. EV Charger State

1. Check the Time Zone Setting

Make sure the time zone setting on your EV Charger is correctly configured to match your local time. An incorrect time zone can cause the charger to follow the schedule at the wrong times.

Steps to Verify and Correct the Time Zone:

  • Open the Emporia Energy app.

  • Navigate to the settings menu for your EV Charger.

  • Check the time zone setting and ensure it matches your local time zone.

  • Adjust the setting if necessary.

2. Ensure the EV Charger is in the "Paused" State

Outside of scheduled charging times, your EV Charger needs to be in the "Paused" state to prevent it from starting to charge immediately. If it is in the "Ready" state, it will begin charging as soon as it is connected. Information on how to reach the Control page for your EV Charger.

Steps to Set the Charger to "Paused" State:

  • Open the Emporia Energy app.

  • Go to the Control page for your EV Charger.

  • Check the current state of the charger. If it is set to "Ready," tap to "Paused."

  • This will ensure the charger only starts when the scheduled time arrives.
