Emporia Energy proudly introduces the Vue 3, the latest advancement in our line of home energy monitors. This article outlines the key upgrades and whether you should consider upgrading from previous models.
Key Upgrades and Enhancements
Enhanced Network Connectivity: Added Ethernet port between the WiFi antenna connection and CT ports, offering an alternative to Wi-FI
Refined Voltage Measurement: Internal improvements for better accuracy, especially in less common installation conditions
Improved CT Sensor Connectivity: Replaced audio jack connectors with terminal blocks, enhancing reliability and allowing customizable wire lengths
Slimmer Physical Design: Easier integration into electrical panels with DIN rail mounting support and improved terminal placement
Eco-Friendly Packaging: Redesigned to minimize environmental impact
Updated UL Certifications: UL 61010 for the device and UL 2808 for the sensors
Compatibility with Previous Models
Vue 2 and Vue 3 can work together via the Emporia Energy app's "nesting" functionality
CT sensors are not interchangeable due to different connection types (audio jacks vs. terminal blocks)
No app functionality is exclusive to either model
Consider upgrading if you need:
Voltage monitoring (if upgrading from Vue 1)
Ethernet network connection
Customizable CT wire lengths for cramped panel spaces
Accuracy improvements (minimal difference between Vue 2 and Vue 3, both at ±2%; Vue 1 has ±10%)
Solar/generation monitoring (available on all models)
