Emporia Energy does not currently offer a public API for direct programmatic access to device or account data. However, there is strong interest in this capability, and an official API remains a long-term goal. This guide covers community alternatives, requested integrations, and discontinued features.
API Access
Emporia continues to evaluate options for secure, supported API access based on customer and partner demand. While no official API is available, several community-developed projects provide programmatic solutions.
Community-Developed Alternatives
Several open-source projects created by the Emporia community can act as alternatives for programmatic access:
PyEmVue – Python library for accessing Emporia devices
HA Emporia Vue – Python-based Home Assistant integration
VueGraf – Python integration for InfluxDB
Emporia-Vue-Hubitat – Groovy-based Hubitat integration
emporia-api-go – Go library (last updated 3 years ago)
Emporia Downloader – Java-based tool (currently archived)
Important: These projects are developed and maintained independently of Emporia. While we can't officially support them, they have been helpful for many customers seeking programmatic solutions.

Discontinued Integrations
SmartCar (Electric Vehicle Integration)
The SmartCar integration for adding electric vehicles to the Emporia app was discontinued in February 2024 (app version 3.8.0).
What This Means:
Existing EVs – If you added your EV to the Emporia app before February 6, 2024, you will still have full access to your connected vehicle
New EVs – The ability to add new EVs via SmartCar is no longer available
No Impact on Emporia Chargers – Emporia EV chargers operate with full feature functionality without EV/SmartCar integration
Accessing EV Battery Information – You can continue to use your EV manufacturer's app to view detailed battery information
We're excited about the future of EV integration and will share updates as new features become available.
