Emporia Electricity Plans

Learn about Emporia’s new fixed‑rate electricity plan, its key benefits, who’s eligible, and what future plans are coming for customers with Emporia EV Chargers and Emporia Vue with solar.

Updated this week

Emporia offers retail electricity plans so you can manage both your energy usage and your electricity rate within the same Emporia ecosystem. Right now, these plans are available to eligible residential customers in Texas who already use Emporia hardware like Vue or Smart Plugs, and we plan to bring them to more states over time.

Customers with an EV charger, solar panels, or a battery on their Emporia account will not see this plan yet — dedicated plans for those products are in development.

Fixed-rate plan (available now in Texas)

The Emporia Fixed Plan is a fixed-rate electricity plan where you pay the same price per kWh for the entire length of your contract.

In Texas, where prices can jump during high-demand periods, a fixed rate can help protect you from sudden bill spikes while covering 100% of your home's electricity needs.

Plan features

Price stability
A low, fixed rate helps smooth out short-term price swings and seasonal changes, so your bills are more predictable from month to month.

No tricks
There are no usage thresholds to hit, no teaser pricing that expires after a few months, and no bill-credit gimmicks — just straightforward pricing.

Simple signup
Enrollment is fully online, takes under 10 minutes, and your power stays on during the switch. Activation typically completes in 1–3 business days.

Works with your Emporia setup
Once enrolled, you'll see a plan card on your Emporia app home screen showing your rate, and an Emporia Energy Plan section in the menu with your plan details — so your energy monitoring and electricity plan live in one place.

100% renewable
The Emporia Fixed Plan provides 100% renewable electricity, so you can lower your impact while you manage your usage.

12-month term
The plan runs for 12 months. You can cancel anytime, but an early cancellation fee of $150 applies if you leave before the term ends. If you move to a new address, no early termination fee is charged.

Who is Light?

Light is Emporia's retail electricity partner and a licensed electricity provider in Texas (PUCT REP #10340).

They handle enrollment processing, billing, payments, and electricity plan support behind the scenes. You get an Emporia‑branded experience — Light takes care of the operational work to keep your electricity flowing.

Future plans for Emporia EV Charger owners

We're working on a dedicated electricity plan designed specifically for customers who use the Emporia EV Charger.

The goal is to help you get more value from your charger by pairing the rate structure with Emporia's charging controls.

Future plans for Emporia Vue customers with solar

We're also planning a solar-focused electricity plan for Emporia Vue customers who produce their own power and send excess energy back to the grid.

The goal is to make it easy to see how your solar production, self-consumption, and any export credits are reflected on your bill.
