Thermostat Integrations
The Emporia app allows you to manage and control supported smart thermostats, helping you monitor and optimize heating and cooling energy usage.
Supported Thermostat Providers
Honeywell (Total Connect Comfort)
Resideo
Ecobee
Sensi (Emerson)
Note: Google Nest Thermostat integration is not currently available, though it is a feature Emporia plans to add in the future, with no confirmed timeline.
How to Add Your Smart Thermostat
Open the Emporia app
Tap the menu icon (☰)
Select Thermostats under the Device Controls section
Tap + Add Device
Choose your thermostat manufacturer and follow the on-screen prompts
Note: Ensure your smart thermostat is already connected to its provider's platform (for example, Honeywell or Resideo) before integrating it into the Emporia app.
Thermostat Energy Management
Once integrated, Emporia can automate your thermostat to match time-of-use rates, excess solar generation, and peak demand goals.
Time-of-Use (ToU) Management
Emporia can adjust your thermostat automatically to reduce energy consumption during utility Peak Hours and precondition your home during Off-Peak periods.
Modes supported: Heat and Cool; Auto and Off modes are ignored.
Safety limits: Emporia will never adjust temperatures below 68°F (20°C) or above 78°F (26°C), and you can override changes at any time.
How to Set Up ToU Management:
Tap the Discover button at the bottom of the app
Navigate to Device Schedules
Choose your thermostat and enable Smart Saver
Peak Demand Management
If you use a Vue Gen 2 (or compatible) energy monitor, you can set a Peak Demand Goal, and Emporia will adjust connected thermostats to help stay under that target.
Modes supported: Heat and Cool; Auto and Off modes are ignored.
How to Set Up Peak Demand Management:
Tap the Discover button at the bottom of the app
Navigate to Peak Demand Management
Choose your thermostat and select your Vue
Set your desired Peak Demand Goal
Excess Solar Optimization
For homes with solar, Emporia can adjust your thermostat to take advantage of excess generation, so more of your own energy is used productively.
Adjustments only occur when the thermostat is in Heat or Cool mode to avoid unwanted changes.
How to Set Up Solar Optimization:
Tap the Discover button at the bottom of the app
Navigate to Excess Solar Optimization
Choose your thermostat and select your Vue
Enable the feature for your connected devices
Managing Multiple Thermostats
The Emporia app supports multiple thermostats, but Excess Solar Management may have difficulty controlling more than one thermostat at the same time. For best performance with Excess Solar features, Emporia recommends limiting participation to a single thermostat.
Home Connect Appliances
Home Connect is a platform that lets you control and monitor supported smart appliances—such as washers, dryers, and dishwashers—from your mobile device. By linking Home Connect with Emporia Energy, you can coordinate appliance use with your broader energy management strategies.
Home Connect + Emporia Energy
Integrating Home Connect with the Emporia app allows you to manage compatible appliances alongside your other energy devices and make more data-driven decisions.
You can view and control Home Connect-enabled appliances through Emporia while aligning operation with your energy goals.
How to Set Up Home Connect Appliances
Open the Emporia Energy app
Tap the Menu icon (☰)
Select Add a New Device
