Released December 22, 2025
The Home Screen is now your default view when you open the Emporia app. Your energy costs, device controls, and savings are all in one place for quick access and better energy management.
Who Is the Home Screen For?
EV Owners - Start charging, pause, or check your session status without navigating to device details
Home Energy Managers - See your energy costs across Today, 7 days, and 30 days with trend arrows
Home Energy Savings Platform Users - All your smart plugs, monitors, and chargers in one unified view with quick controls
What You'll See
Energy Summary
If you have a Vue energy monitor, you'll see your costs or usage across three time periods:
Today - Current day vs. yesterday
Last 7d - Rolling week vs. previous week
Last 30d - Rolling month vs. previous month
Green and red arrows show whether you're trending up or down compared to the previous period. Tap the settings gear to choose which devices are included in your totals.
Charging Summary
If you have an EV charger, you'll see your charging activity across the same three time periods - energy used, cost, and session counts. Green and red arrows show your trends. Tap the settings gear to customize which chargers are included if you have multiple.
Device Cards
Charger Cards - Show your current status (On, Ready, Charging, or Offline) with control buttons right on the card. Tap Charge now to start or Pause Charging to stop. Tap anywhere else on the card for full charger details.
Vue Cards - Display today's usage and your top circuits. Tap the card for the full device view.
Smart Plug Grid - Shows all your plugs in one place. Tap the power button to toggle on/off. Want a different order? Press and hold any plug, then drag to reorder.
Savings Widget
Appears for charger owners on time-of-use rates. If you're on SmartSaver, you'll see your realized savings. Not on SmartSaver yet? You'll see the potential savings you could unlock.
Customize Your Summaries
Multiple chargers or multiple energy monitors? You'll need to configure which ones to include. We default to showing one of each, but your totals won't be complete until you select the devices you want.
To customize:
Tap the settings gear in the Energy Summary section
Check or uncheck devices in the HOME SETTINGS modal
Tap Apply and your totals recalculate immediately
Avoid Double Counting
Your main energy monitor (connected to your electrical panel) already tracks everything flowing through the panel, including circuits with smart plugs or nested monitors.
Common scenarios:
Smart plugs on circuits tracked by Vue - Include Vue only (plugs are already counted in Vue totals)
Smart plugs NOT tracked by Vue - Include Vue + those plugs (plugs add data Vue doesn't see)
Two Vues: main panel + subpanel - Include main Vue only (subpanel flows through main panel)
Standalone smart plugs (no Vue) - Include all plugs (each plug is independent data)
Common Questions
Q: Why are my 7-day and 30-day columns empty?
A: These columns populate once your device has enough history. New devices show Today immediately, with Last 7d and Last 30d appearing as data accumulates.
Q: Why don't I see cost, just kWh?
A: Cost display requires a utility rate. Tap Menu > Utility Settings to configure your rate.
Q: Why is my device showing as Offline?
A: The device isn't connected. Check its internet connection. You'll see "Last connected [date/time]" showing when it was last online.
Q: Why don't I see the savings widget?
A: The savings widget appears for charger owners on time-of-use electricity rates.
Q: Can I change the order of my smart plugs?
A: Yes. Press and hold any smart plug card, then drag to reorder.
Q: How do I hide a device from the Home Screen?
A: Go to the device's settings and toggle off Show on Device/Home. This hides the device from both the Device List and the Home Screen.
Troubleshooting
Home Screen isn't loading or looks wrong - Make sure your app is updated to the latest version. Try force-closing and reopening. If the problem persists, check that your devices are online.
Energy Summary shows unexpected numbers - Tap the settings gear to verify which devices are included. If you have multiple monitors, review the double-counting guidance above.
Device card missing from Home Screen - Check that Show on Device/Home is enabled in the device's settings. If this toggle is off, the device won't appear on the Home Screen or Device List. Also, verify the device is online and connected.
