Does it work with my vehicle?
Updated over a week ago

At Emporia Energy, we understand the importance of ensuring your EV Charger works seamlessly with your electric vehicle. Our Level 2 EVSE EV Charger is designed to be compatible with almost all electric vehicles (EVs) available in North America, thanks to the different connector types we support.

Supported Connector Types

1. J1772 Connector: The Emporia Energy EV Charger comes with a built-in J1772 charging gun, which is the standard connector for most electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) in North America. This connector is used for Level 1 (120 volt) and Level 2 (240 volt) AC charging. If your EV has a J1772 charging port, our charger will work perfectly with it.

2. NACS (North American Charging Standard) Connector: Our charger also supports the NACS connector, which is becoming the new standard in North America. This connector, referred to as SAE J3400, is compatible with both AC Level 2 and DC fast charging. Tesla vehicles use the NACS connector, and many other manufacturers are transitioning to this standard starting in 2025. If you drive a Tesla, our NACS model of EV Charger can connect directly without needing an adapter.

Unsupported Connector Type

CHAdeMO Connector: The only connector type our charger does not support for Level 2 charging is the CHAdeMO connector. This connector is primarily used by some Japanese EVs, such as the Nissan LEAF and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. As the CHAdeMO standard is being phased out in North America, fewer vehicles will require this connector type.

How to Determine Compatibility

To ensure your electric vehicle is compatible with our EV Charger, a quick Google search or a check in your vehicle's manual should reveal whether your EV uses a J1772 or NACS connector. For Tesla owners, our J1772 EV Charger model can be used with a Tesla adapter, available from Tesla's online store.
