Can I Install/Use the EV Charger either indoors or outdoors? Yes - The EV Charger was built to be installed/used indoors or outdoors without issue. The EV Charger enclosure is a watertight NEMA Type 4 indoor/outdoor rated casing so should be plenty safe to use in either scenario.

Does the EV Charger J1772 Charger connector have any weather protections? Yes - the connector (aka "charger gun") does have a rubber cap used to protect the port contacts from adverse weather related conditions. If wanting additional protection above the cap included with the EV Charger, there are third party mounting kits that can provide more options.

If I install my EV Charger outdoors, is it possible to "lock" the EV Charger to make sure nobody else can charge with it? Yes - all of the EV Charger controls are manageable through the Emporia app and allows you remote control over the EV Charger behavior (as long as it is connected via WiFi). Whenever the EV Charger is in a "Paused" state within the app, it will prevent any charge being sent to the vehicle and is the most common way for customers manage this behavior. Once you're ready to charge your vehicle on-demand, you can tap the EV Charger into Ready from the Control Page within the app and it will begin charging right away. One thing to note is that there aren't any physical "locks" built into the EV Charger itself, all of its behavior is managed through the Emporia app.
