The Emporia Energy EV Charger is a Level 2 Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) designed to provide efficient and reliable charging for your electric vehicle (EV). This state-of-the-art charger is capable of delivering up to 40 amps with a NEMA 14-50 plug or up to 48 amps with a hardwired installation. Charge rate is dynamic and completely controllable in single-amp increments between 6A (min) and 48A (max, with hardwire installation).

Energy Monitoring and Control: The Emporia EV Charger integrates seamlessly with the Emporia Energy platform, allowing you to monitor and manage your energy usage in real-time through the Emporia app. The app enables you to control the charger’s behavior (stop/start and charge rate), schedule charging sessions, set up notifications, and access various automated energy management features. Load Management: The Load Management system (optional upgrade) enables you to enjoy maximum EV charging without the high cost of an electrical panel upgrade. It automatically adjusts the EV Chargers' charge rate based on your panel’s service rating and system limits, preventing the need for costly and time-consuming electrical upgrades when installing the charger. Flexible Installation Options: The charger can be installed using a NEMA 14-50P plug or hardwired directly into your electrical system. This flexibility allows you to choose the best option for your needs and preferences.
Durable Design: The EV Charger comes with a 24-foot cable and is available with either an SAE J1772 or NACS-Tesla connector. It features a watertight NEMA Type 4 enclosure, available in black or white colors, designed to withstand harsh outdoor conditions.
Power Supply and Compatibility: Since March 2024, you can select the type of power supply (NEMA 14-50P or hardwired) in your preferred color (black or white). The charger operates on split-phase 120V/240V electrical systems, common in North America. Energy Consumption
When the EV Charger is in its ready state (powered on but not actively charging), it consumes less than 5 watts at maximum use, with a typical constant use of approximately 3 watts. Details about its power consumption in various operational states can be found on the Energy Star website here.
Internet and Network Usage
The charger uses minimal internet bandwidth, approximately 2.6MB of network traffic per day, or around 70MB per month. This usage may increase if the Emporia app is used frequently or if diagnostic data is being transmitted to Customer Support.
