The Emporia Electric Vehicle Charging Station is a Level 2 EV charger that charges any EV up to 40 amps with NEMA 14-50P or up to 48 amps with a hardwired installation. It comes with a 24’ cable with an SAE J1772 connector so it works with all-electric cars*. Its watertight black or white NEMA Type 4 enclosure is made to withstand the elements outdoors. Covered by a 3-year warranty when installed in North America per the instructions in the installation guide.
*To charge a Telsa with a adapter is required and is not included.
If you have a Vue Gen 2 Energy Monitor, you don't need to add a 50A CT to the EV Charger line, since the charger is its own sensor and will capture and transfer energy consumption data in real-time to show you in the Emporia app.
Our current Level 2 EV Charger model will only work on split-phase 120V/240V electrical systems at the moment. Split-phase power will have two lines @ ~120V with ~180-degree phase offset. If your system does not have these specifications it will not work and is not recommended for installations outside of North America for the time being.
How much energy does it consume?
When in its ready state (not charging but powered on), the unit consumes < 5W at maximum use, but closer to < ~3W constant use.
How much internet does it consume?
The Emporia EV charger should only use 2.6MB of network traffic per day, or 70MB a month of internet bandwidth. This amount can be higher if consistently using the Emporia app or for diagnostic purposes when working with Customer Support.
